This is the initial course required to apply for your CCW permit. This firearms safety course covers essential topics such as firearm safety protocols, alongside the legal and moral aspects of carrying a firearm, equipping you with the skills needed to become proficient and confident in your ability to carry. At the completion of this course, you are eligible to receive a DOJ Firearms Safety Certificate if required. Part-1 of the CCW courses is available in an online format, while Part-2 consists of in-person live-fire training at a designated range for hands-on practice and qualifications. Part-2 of this course takes place in person and offers various options:
1. One-on-one personal training, which involves force options simulator training, skills and drills, along with live-fire training for $200 payable upon completion of the training. A $15 range fee applies per person.
2. You can split one-on-one training with another participant, sharing the cost—$100 each due upon completion, plus a $15 per person range fee.
3. Alternatively, join a group class for Part-2 at $125 (6-10 students), payable during in-person registration.
If you wish to incorporate Force Options Simulator training and skills and drills into a group class, it is an additional $50 and may be scheduled on a different day from the live-fire training as the Force Options training is conducted at the Peacekeeper Specialized Training Institute.

Designed for CCW holders who have completed an approved 16-hour course and hold a current, valid CCW permit nearing expiration, this course serves as a streamlined option. It includes essential classroom instruction and comprehensive live-fire training. Upon successful completion, students will receive a certificate to facilitate CCW permit renewal.
This CCW course is structured in a two-part format. Part-1 encompasses an online self-paced component that addresses crucial state training, including the appropriate use of force, self-defense laws, and mental health training. These topics are also reviewed in person during Part-2, where students must pass a written test. Part-2 features live-fire training, providing students with various options.
Part-1, including the self-paced online training, is priced at $100.00.
Part-2 is conducted in person and features live-fire training and qualification options:
- Limited training on new skills along with live-fire training/qualification for $65, payable in person upon qualifying.
- Skills and drills, Force Options Simulator, and live-fire qualification for $115, also payable in person upon qualifying.

Additionally, we offer semi-private lessons with family and buddy registration discounts for two individuals enrolling together. The 8-hour Renewal course for two is priced at $145 per person and includes firearms safety course components, skills, drills training, and covers range fees.

The Peacekeeper Specialized Training Institute is on the approved list for Santa Barbara County, San Luis Obispo County, and for the City of Lompoc. Our training program has been reviewed and approved by The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office, San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office, and the Lompoc Police Department.
Residents who live within other City jurisdictions, may need to contact their City's Police Department to find out what training has been approved by their administration. Some cities, including the Cities of Solvang and Buellton contract with the Sheriff's Office, so this course is approved for Solvang and Buellton residents under the Sheriff's contract. Cities within San Luis Obispo County are currently approved to attend this training, as the Sheriff's Office oversees the CCW process for those cities within the county. PSTI is currently working on approval from other cities on the Central Coast.
You must first contact your local law enforcement agency and start the process. You must not have a criminal background, not have restraining orders against you, not be addicted to any narcotic or drugs, or have any serious mental health issues which prohibit you from owning or possessing a firearm.
Once you are approved by your local law enforcement official, you can then attend a CCW training program. Upon completion you are eligible for issuance of a CCW permit.
This CCW course is for regular law abiding citizens who want to protect themselves and their families. It is for the real world. Our training is designed to not intimidate, overwhelm, or to demonstrate our abilities. It is designed to give you tools to safely carry a weapon and, to be educated in the legal, moral and practical aspects of CCW. Most of the CCW training is about using force and use of force law. Having a law enforcement background and a law enforcement training background, we strive to give you the tools for developing situational awareness, having the knowledge of how force is judged, and the process of making rational decisions about your force options.
Our trainers are retired law enforcement and have decades of experience in training law enforcement officers from recruits starting their careers in law enforcement to training long-time veteran police personnel. We subscribe to the "KISS" principle. Keep it Simple and Safe.
Your training starts in the classroom and then onto basic drills. We have available a force options simulator which includes training in a safe environment before moving onto live fire at a range if you want additional training. If you want to include the simulator in your training, by the time you shoot live fire at the range, you will have already practiced function drills, basic weapons manipulation and, have shot courses of fire involving basic skills and judgement training in a simulator. The goal is to build your skills and to prepare you in a safe environment before you shoot live rounds. Deciding to carry a weapon for self-defense is a big decision and our goal is to give you the tools to be competent and prepared.
