Professional Training

  • Most Arrest and Control and other courses offered satisfy the Security Personnel Continuing Education Requirements per 7583.6(f)(1) of the Business and Professions Code and 7583.7 of the Business and Professions Code.  Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a certificate of completion.  Peacekeeper Security Services is a licensed PPO and Licensed Baton Training Facility by BSIS. 

Training Courses Offered

BSIS Baton Certification Course

  

  • This 8-hour course satisfies the training requirement to apply for your BSIS baton permit or to renew a baton permit (required every 2 years within 6 months of expiration). The course is up-to-date, covering the minimum requirements of Business and Professions code 7589.9.  This course will teach you the fundamentals of baton handling. 


  • Students must possess a valid and current BSIS guard card and be in good physical condition. The course is comprised of lectures, discussion of judgment, decision-making, laws related to the use of the baton, and hands-on defensive techniques.  Upon completion of the course, students will receive a certificate of completion, which qualifies them to apply for a BSIS baton carry permit. Fundamentals of the straight, expandable, and side-handle baton will be taught.  We will also go over all BSIS applications and forms required related to the baton. 


Course Objectives


  1. Students will develop good judgment and decision-making in using a baton
  2. Students will become aware of personal safety concerns
  3. Students will develop body awareness, base, balance, proper stance work, and movement
  4. Students will learn basic baton handling, draws, strikes, blocks, retention, and control
  5. Students will identify acceptable areas of the body to target and vital areas of the body to avoid.
  6. Students will develop an understanding of the moral and legal aspects of using a weapon/force.

  3. Work-out clothing
  4. Mat Shoes optional (no street shoes allowed on mat room floor)
  5. Current/valid BSIS guard card and photo identification

Arrest and Control Basic Handcuffing

  • This 4-hour Arrest and Control course covers basic handcuffing and personal safety techniques from standing, kneeling, and prone positions.


  • Students must possess a valid and current BSIS guard card or have proof of employment as proprietary security personnel.


Course Objectives


  1. Students will develop good judgment and decision-making in using restraints.
  2. Students will instructed on the legal/civil aspects of using restraints. 
  3. Students will be instructed on search and seizure and the differences between 836 P.C. and 837 P.C.
  4. Students will learn basic and effective handcuffing techniques from standing, kneeling, and prone positions.
  5. Students will learn about officer safety when temporarily restraining individuals.

  1. Work-out clothing
  2. Handcuffs and key
  3. Mat shoes are optional (no street shoes on the mat room floor are allowed)
  4. Current/valid BSIS guard card and photo identification

ARREST AND CONTROL/DEFENSIVE TACTICS/SKILL BATTERY 1

  • This 4-hour course covers basic control techniques for security personnel.  Skill battery 1 includes escort control techniques, basic body movement, and stance work focusing on the development of base and balance.  The course will cover laws involving self-defense and use of force-options. 


Course Objectives


  1. Students will develop good judgment and decision-making in using force and self-protection techniques.
  2. Students will become aware of personal safety concerns.
  3. Students will develop body awareness, base, balance, proper stance work, and movement.
  4. Students will learn basic control techniques from "Skill Battery 1," which includes tactically approaching someone, joint locks, take-downs, and control techniques.


Required Equipment


  1. Work-out clothing
  2. Mat shoes optional (no street shoes allowed on mat room floor)
  3. A towel and a change of shirt are suggested

Arrest and Control Skill Battery 2

  • This 4-hour course provides students with basic pugilistic skills.  Skill Battery 2 includes an introduction to proper footwork, and strikes with personal body weapons such as fists, palm-heel, elbows, knees, feet, shin, and head.  This is a defensive course that focuses on teaching students to protect themselves from an attack. 


Course Objectives


  1. Students will develop good judgment and decision-making in using force and self-protection techniques.
  2. Students will become aware of personal safety concerns.
  3. Students will develop body awareness, base, balance, proper stance work, and movement.
  4. Students will learn self-defense techniques including blocks, evasive movements, and counterstrikes.


Equipment Required


  1. Work-out clothing
  2. Mat shoes are optional (no street shoes allowed on the mat room floor)
  3. Hand-wraps are optional
  4. A towel and a change of shirt is suggested

Arrest and Control Skill Battery 3

  • This 4-hour course provides students with an introduction to basic ground fighting defense.  Skill Battery 3 includes an introduction to take-down defenses and basic skills to protect yourself when you end up on the ground. Statistics show that over 60% of altercations end up on the ground. 


Course Objectives


  1. Students will develop good judgment and decision-making in using force and self-protection techniques.
  2. Students will become aware of personal safety concerns. 
  3. Students will learn how to better their position to protect themselves when an altercation ends up in a grappling fight.
  4. Students will learn a series of grappling control techniques.


Equipment Required


  1. Work-out clothing
  2. Mat shoes are optional (no street shoes are allowed on the mat room floor)
  3. A towel and a change of shirt is suggested
